Ciruela Fruit Box (Pre-Order)

Spondias purpurea, or Ciruela is also commonly known as Red Mombin, Jocote, Hog Plum and Sineguela.  The Ciruela tree is native to tropical America.

Our Green Ciruela is picked unripe as the fruits turn red and become very soft and delicate on the tree. While Ripe Ciruela is absolutely sensational throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, the green fruit as we ship it is also a delicious delicacy throughout the Philippines and other parts of Southeastern Asia where the unripe fruit is enjoyed with a little lime juice and a touch of salt. The green fruit is also pickled with spices to make a savory, artisan snack.

Each Ciruela fruit will contain a single, hard, inedible seed in the center, much like an olive pit which should be discarded, as Ciruela seeds are not viable and will not grow. Ciruela trees are naturally parthenocarpic and do not require pollination to fruit; thus the fruit trees are only vegetatively propagated. Though these fruits are natural and are non GMO.

Pre-Orders will ship in the order they are received, as soon as the fruit is in season and ready to be picked. 

• Small Box contains approximately 3-5 pounds of Green Ciruela fruit 
• Medium Box contains approximately 8-10 pounds of Green Ciruela fruit 

 Box weight and amounts vary depending on fruit type, volume and density.  All boxes are shipped with sustainably produced biodegradable packing material instead of Styrofoam or bubble wrap.  See our Shipping Guide for more information pertaining to our shipping schedule.

Please be mindful of estimated delivery times for orders, as prolonged package exposure to outdoor weather conditions, such as snow or extreme heat, will affect perishable produce.

All boxes are assembled and shipped starting on Monday of the week following your purchase.  Please allow 1-2 weeks for your order to be shipped for any product which is in season.  Pre-Orders will ship the following season for each respective fruit type, see details below.

When one of our fruits is not currently in season, or has sold out, we highly recommend placing Pre-Orders. Placing a Pre-Order of our rare and premium tropical fruits reserves your Box for the following season. When supply is low and demand is high, Pre-Orders are shipped first. Pre-Orders are shipped in the order in which they are received for each type of fruit. Your Pre-Order is shipped as soon as the fruits are in season and ready to be picked.
