Longan Box (Pre Order 2022)

Dimocarpus longan, commonly known as Longan trees are native to Asia, though they are now grown all throughout the tropics.

Longan fruits are part of the soapberry family, which includes fruits such as lychee, rambutan, ackee, pulasan and more.

Longan fruits are roughly the size of a grape. The smooth outer shell of the Longan fruit is a beige, tan or light brown color. The shell or skin of the fruit is effortlessly split and removed by hand, revealing a delicious, profoundly sweet and juicy tropical wonder. The flesh of the Longan fruit is translucent, like a lychee or a grape, and there is one smooth, dark inedible seed in the center of the fruit.

The fresh fruit is crisp and crunchy, yet juicy and sweet. The most remarkable aspect of the Longan fruit is how sweet it is, they are as sweet as pure sugar.

Once partially peeled, you can pop the Longan in your mouth and eat around the seed which should be discarded along with the peel, or you can slice the fruit with a knife to remove the seed before serving or eating.

Longans are a good source of vitamin C, potassium, and vitamin B2;  other than that, they are just plain delicious!

We harvest Kohala Longans from our own trees right here in Miami during the summer season. We also source Longans locally from fellow growers. Our Longans are picked ripe and will ship and arrive ready-to-eat.

Fresh Longan fruits will store at room temperature for 5-7 days, or you may refrigerate them for up to 3 weeks in their shells. It is best to refrigerate the Longans in a crisper drawer, or container to maintain humidity and prevent them from drying out.

The season for Longan is somewhat short here in south Florida, so we ask that you allow us 1-2 weeks to ship your box during the Longan season to ensure your fruits are picked at the perfect time. We encourage you to place a Pre-Order (see Pre-Order below for more information) to reserve your box of Longans ahead of the seasonal rush.  Longans are a tasty little fruit you definitely don’t want to miss out on!

Pre-Orders will ship in the order they are received, as soon as the fruit is in season and ready to be picked.

• Small Box contains approximately 3-5 pounds of fruit.
• Medium Box contains approximately 8-10 pounds of fruit.
• Large Box contains approximately 13-15 pounds of fruit.
• Fiesta Box contains approximately 20-25 pounds of fruit.

 Box weight and amounts vary depending on fruit type, volume and density.  All boxes are shipped with sustainably produced biodegradable packing material instead of Styrofoam or bubble wrap.  See our Shipping Guide for more information pertaining to our shipping schedule.

Please be mindful of estimated delivery times for orders, as prolonged package exposure to outdoor weather conditions, such as snow or extreme heat, will affect perishable produce.

All boxes are assembled and shipped starting on Monday of the week following your purchase.  Please allow 1-2 weeks for your order to be shipped for any product which is in season.  Pre-Orders will ship the following season for each respective fruit type, see details below.

When one of our fruits is not currently in season, or has sold out, we highly recommend placing Pre-Orders. Placing a Pre-Order of our rare and premium tropical fruits reserves your Box for the following season. When supply is low and demand is high, Pre-Orders are shipped first. Pre-Orders are shipped in the order in which they are received for each type of fruit. Your Pre-Order is shipped as soon as the fruits are in season and ready to be picked. Some fruits have only one season per year, others have multiple seasons.  Please refer to our Fruit Seasons Guide for more information.
