Turmeric Root Box
Turmeric is the subterranean stem of the herbaceous perennial plant Curcuma longa. Turmeric, like Ginger is a member of the Zingiberaceae family, which is native to tropical south Asia. There are over one hundred species of plants within the Curcuma genus worldwide.
Turmeric is a vibrant orange rhizome, with extraordinary nutritional properties, with remarkable health benefits.
Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory with antibacterial properties. Turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine practices for thousands of years; however, it is only in recent years that the world has begun to fully understand why Turmeric is so amazing.
Interestingly, Turmeric contains an active ingredient known as Curcumin, which may be linked to lower incidents of cancer related disease in communities which regularly consume lots of fresh Turmeric.
Fresh Turmeric contains higher concentrations of essential oils than dried Turmeric powder, however both forms of this incredibly potent superfood offer jaw-dropping nutrition combined with unfathomable flavor. Whether incorporated in cooked cuisine, or blended beverages like Turmeric & Carrot Juice or Turmeric Tea, this powerful rhizome is objectively delicious.
